After an a year and a half break from touring in the United State, 5 Seconds of Summer are back on their 5SOS3 Tour, playing intimate shows all over the states. Having sold out every show of the 5SOS3 Tour in their presale, fans have been itching for the bands return to touring and for their new album that’s set to release on June 22, 2018. This new album, Youngblood, is the third studio album by 5 Seconds of Summer and was the center of the setlist for their 5SOS3 Tour. The band have been playing 6 songs off the upcoming album on their current tour, 4 of which have yet to be officially released by the band.
The band brought their 5SOS3 Tour to Phoenix, AZ on April 23, 2018, packing the The Van Buren full of screaming fans. Fans of the band lined up hours before the show, despite the Arizona heat. Once the venue’s doors opened, fans were greeted with opening band, lovelytheband, whose front man, Mitchy Collins, is good friends with the guys in 5 SOS and is often seen hanging out with them while both parties are not on tour. Preforming an electric set, lovelytheband instilled lasting excitement in the crowd for 5 Seconds of Summer to hit the stage.
5 Seconds of Summer began their set by ringing out the first familiar chord of their hit song, She Looks so Perfect. Following that all too recognizable chord, the band ran out onto the stage and began to play the hit tune. The band continued on to play their track off of the Ghostbusters soundtrack, and then their song Disconnected, which hails from their album of b-sides that was released in 2014. Following these two songs, the band began to perform Moving Along, one of the unreleased songs off their upcoming album. Hearing this new track had the entire crowd buzzing with excitement for the songs from the new album. The band continued on through their set, taking time to talk to the crowd throughout the show. In one instance, drummer, Ashton Irwin, was able to steal the guitar of fellow band mate, Michael Clifford, and began to pretend he was Niall Horan, who was a member of One Direction and also good friend of the guys in 5 Seconds of Summer. The band played through hit songs like She’s Kinda Hot and Jet Black Heart and closed out their show with one of the chart topping singles off their new album, Want You Back.
After finishing their current tour, 5 Seconds of Summer will be releasing Youngblood in June and also hitting the road in the United States again on their Meet You There Tour which begins in late August. The band will be back in Phoenix on October 11 at Comerica Theatre.
